Milo

To my sweet little Milo,
You entered our lives as the cutest little puppy. I took you out for walks for off-leash training, and when I’d drop the leash, you always stopped immediately to watch me walk ahead until you saw me at a distance, crouching down, and you’d run like the wind towards my arms.
I secretly let you sleep in my bed because you wanted to sleep close to me rather than in the little bed next to mine, and you’d always curl up on the pillow right next to my face. The next morning I’d find you there, and sometimes you’d make me worry because I’d find you in-between the blankets.
When it was time for you to get used to staying inside a crate, I’d always sit down on the floor at night with my legs crossed so you could settle in the little gap. I’d always baby you to sleep and when you were drowsy enough, I’d put you inside the crate so you could sleep in there peacefully.
You were always a bit of a mommy’s boy, and you loved cuddling like no other. We’d often lay on my bed where you’d crawl close to me and rest your head on my arm and we’d lay there, face-to-face (you even started stretching out your own paw to rest your head on as a habit, so cute!). Sometimes we’d fall asleep, sometimes it’s us giving each other lots of kissies! You always had the cutest, chubbiest cheeks. I remember that whenever I grabbed my phone real quick during our cuddling, you’d always smack it away with your paw. Oops!
We had a last cuddle session on the very same day that you passed away later that night. I gave you lots of kissies and you tried to return just as many to me despite how tired you were. You always tried to protect Miso, your sister, and often had a lil bit of an attitude like the adorable grumpy grandpa you turned into.
I’ll always remember thinking you had the cutest paws and I loved looking at them. I’ll always remember you arguing with my dad’s shoes for no reason, or impatiently pawing at the umbrella stand and creating a lot of noise. Your little, soft grumbles and growls which I’d imitate, and we’d just have a nonsensical conversation back-and-forth until I give you pets. If I stopped, you’d (again) impatiently paw at me and try to grab onto my hand to pull it back to you. You always fell asleep on top of dad whenever he was in his chair in the kitchen, and I’d often stumble upon the both of you absolutely knocked out.
I’ll miss the sometimes gentle, sometimes not-so-gentle pawing at my bedroom door in the morning because you want to be let in. I’ll miss seeing your stumpy little tail wagging when I’d purposely slowly walk to you because you’re so happily anticipating the attention. I’ll miss you pressing your mouth or cheek against mine when cuddling. I’ll miss everything, you had such a unique and wonderful personality, my lil puppy. Or as I loved to call you – mijn kleine poepie, pjoep, or oepie.
Rest in peace, my sweet boy. Thank you for the time you’ve been in my life. TC is up there waiting for you, I’m sure he’s glad to finally spend time again with his brother. One day we’ll all be reunited, I promise you. I’ll always be with you no matter where you are. We love you so, so much!
